Weather turns cold again in Chhattisgarh

Raipur | Correspondent: The weather in Chhattisgarh has once again begun to change. According to the Meteorological Department, cold is expected to increase across the state starting today, and temperatures could drop by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next few hours. The department says that significant changes in the weather are not expected after this drop, but night and morning temperatures will remain cool.

Due to this, a cold wave alert has been issued for several areas of northern Chhattisgarh for the next three days. Wind speed and direction can further intensify the chill.

In view of the impact of the changing weather, the Health Department has also issued an advisory. The department has stated that sudden temperature drops increase the risk of seasonal illnesses such as hypothermia, colds, viral fevers, and body aches.

People have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, travel only when absolutely necessary, and wear warm clothing when leaving the house. The department says that the elderly, young children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions are particularly vulnerable during this season, and therefore, they need to take special precautions.

Regarding the plains, temperatures have fluctuated continuously over the past few days. Durg, once considered the coldest plain district this season, has seen its minimum temperature rise from 10°C to 15.2°C in the past five days.

This increase in temperature provides some relief during the day, but the cold in the morning and late nights remains prevalent. In Raipur, the minimum temperature also rose from 13°C to around 16.8°C, bringing a slight relief to city residents compared to last week, although weather experts believe that the incoming cold winds may bring it down again.

Assessing the state's temperature, the highest maximum temperature of 31.4°C was recorded in Durg in the last 24 hours, while the lowest minimum temperature of 7.5°C was recorded in Ambikapur. Notably, Ambikapur's temperature had reached 6°C seven days ago, which was considered the lowest temperature recorded in November in the last ten years.

According to experts, the geographical location of the Ambikapur region and cold winds blowing from the hilly terrain cause night temperatures to drop well below normal.

Considering these circumstances, the Meteorological Department has appealed to the people of Chhattisgarh to remain vigilant. Wearing warm clothing when going out in the morning and evening, taking extra care of the elderly and children, and paying attention to any changes in the weather over the next few days are all essential.

The department states that this cold spell in the state is likely to persist for the time being, and people must be prepared to handle it.
