Jagdalpur | Correspondent: In the tribal areas of Bastar and Bakawand block, primary and middle school students were discovered cheating with the help of their invigilators in their board examination. It was found that the teachers helped children by showing them the books and some by showing answers through their mobile phones.

With an aim of improving the quality of education, the new education policy 2024-25 was implemented this year. Under this policy, it was made mandatory for the students of class 5 and 8 to appear for board examination. As per the rules, if a student failed in the examination they will be given a second attempt within two three months. In such cases, the teachers must re educate an assist the student in their studies. However, it seems that the teachers themselves are compromising the children’s future.

In the Korta of Bakawand block, in a video recorded by one of the parents showed students wring their exams while peeping into their books. As soon as the teacher noticed the parent recording video, she moved away. When questioned about the incident, she denied any wrongdoing. Upon asking the examination in-charge, Kamla Devi, about the blatant cheating permitted by the teachers, she refused to comment.

In a similar incident that took place in the Nalpavand primay school and Taragaanv of Bastar block where class 8 students were found sitting in a group and cheating using teacher’s mobile phone. While in other class, teachers were seen dictating answers to the students. Here also Danurjay Baghel, the examination in charge of the school denied of the incident.

Following the receipt of videos exposing cheating during board examinations, District Education Officer Baliram Baghel has ordered action against the concerned schools and teachers.
