Statewide protests erupt in Rajasthan over Aravalli protection
Jaipur | Desk: The 'Save Aravalli' movement, demanding the protection of the Aravalli mountain range in Rajasthan, has gained momentum across the state. Protests continued in major cities, from the capital Jaipur to Udaipur and Jodhpur.
Activists from NSUI (National Students' Union of India), Karni Sena, and other social organizations staged demonstrations at district collectorates, raising slogans and submitting memorandums addressed to the President.
At the Udaipur district collectorate, NSUI members held a massive protest, where clashes and scuffles broke out between the police and protesters as authorities attempted to control the crowd. Several young people were detained by the police and later released.
In Jodhpur, the protest turned violent when young people attempted to breach the barricades at the collectorate. Police had to use mild force to control the situation.
Meanwhile, a group of young people, led by former student union leader Nirmal Chaudhary, has announced a 1,000-kilometer-long "awareness march" starting from Mount Abu on Wednesday.
The march will begin at the Rajasthan-Gujarat border and pass through various villages and cities, with the main objective of raising public awareness about the destruction of the Aravalli range and mobilizing people to join the movement.
Reports of demonstrations and protests have also emerged from several other towns, including Chittorgarh, indicating the growing impact of this movement.
