RSS chief Bhagwat says Sangh focused on Nation-Building, not politics

Dehradun | Desk: At an event organized to mark the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat clarified the organization's core objectives and vision for the future. Addressing a gathering on Sunday titled "Sangh Yatra - New Horizons, New Dimensions," he categorically stated that the RSS does not practice Hindutva politics, but rather its sole goal is to empower society and the nation through individual character building.

He emphasized that only strong personalities can lay the foundation of a strong nation and that the reality of the RSS cannot be understood solely by external observation.

Bhagwat said that people often mistake the RSS for a paramilitary force or merely a service organization, but it is a social force beyond these boundaries. Referring to India's emerging role in the world, he said that today the world once again wants to see India in a leadership role.

Speaking on the balance between power and truth, he said that the world understands the language of power more than truth. Therefore, acquiring power is essential, but its use should always be restrained. He also clarified that only those who work to unite are true Hindus, and that unwavering devotion to the motherland is essential.

Sharing his views on contemporary issues such as women's empowerment and the environment, the Sarsanghchalak made a major statement. He said that women's participation in governance and administration should not be limited to 33 percent, but should be increased to 50 percent.

With specific reference to Uttarakhand, he also stressed the need for a coordinated policy with local participation for river and environmental protection. He concluded by calling on all sections of society to join the Sangh's activities to empower the nation.
