Raipur | Correspondent: Raipur MP Brijmohan Agarwal has taken a significant initiative to modernize Chhattisgarh's healthcare services and provide patients relief from long waiting lists. The senior BJP leader has written to Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, demanding the introduction of 'Robotic Surgery Systems' in the state's major medical colleges and government hospitals.

The MP argues that the introduction of this technology will not only enhance the precision of surgical operations but also provide financial relief to the poor by sparing them the exorbitant costs associated with private hospitals.

Citing the ground realities of the state in his letter, MP Agarwal noted that even today, a large segment of Chhattisgarh's population including farmers, laborers, and middle-class families relies entirely on government hospitals for their healthcare needs.

He expressed concern that due to a shortage of resources and the longer time required for manual surgeries, patients are often compelled to wait for months to undergo operations.

Frequently, these delays exacerbate the patient's condition, leaving them with no choice but to mortgage their assets or jewelry in order to seek treatment at private hospitals.

Enumerating the benefits of robotic technology, the MP suggested that this system should be installed in all of the state's medical colleges, including Raipur's Mekahara (MGM) and DKS Superspecialty Hospital.

He stated that robotic surgery enables complex operations to be performed in less time and with exceptional precision.

This reduces the risk of infection, facilitates earlier discharge for patients, and by allowing for a higher volume of surgeries to be performed in a single day will lead to a rapid reduction in waiting lists.

Furthermore, medical students in the state will gain the opportunity to learn this modern technology, thereby enabling Chhattisgarh to emerge as a leading hub for medical education within the country.
