Missing girls cases rise steadily in Chhattisgarh
Raipur | Correspondent: In Chhattisgarh, cases involving the disappearance, abduction, and enticement of girls and women are rising year after year. This is evident in government statistics. Primarily, the highest number of such cases has been recorded in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, and Korba.
According to government data, cases of missing girls stood at 3,074 in 2023, rose to 3,497 in 2024, and further to 3,803 in 2025. This clearly indicates that the number of missing girls in Chhattisgarh is increasing year-on-year. Similarly, cases of abduction stood at 4 in 2023, remained at 4 in 2024, and increased to 6 in 2025.
Cases involving the enticement of girls were recorded at 3,393 in 2023; this figure rose to 3,861 in 2024 and further increased to 4,156 in 2025. However, the police have successfully located and recovered the majority of these individuals.
Likewise, cases involving missing women are also on the rise in Chhattisgarh. In 2023, 10,619 such cases were registered; this figure rose to 11,928 in 2024 and reached 12,888 in 2025.
Now, let us examine the status of cases involving the abduction of women.
Four cases were registered in 2023, 7 cases in 2024, and 7 cases in 2025. As for cases involving enticement, 13 cases were registered in 2023, 3 in 2024, and 2 in 2025. Specifically regarding the enticement of women, there has indeed been a decline in the number of cases. In cases involving the disappearance, abduction, and enticement of women, the police have successfully located and recovered them.

As for cases involving the enticement of girls, 3,393 cases were registered in 2023, 3,861 in 2024, 4,156 in 2025, and 415 in January 2026. Of these, 3,327 girls were located in 2023, 3,696 in 2024, 3,536 in 2025, and 215 by February 15, 2026. Similarly, in Chhattisgarh, cases of missing women were registered as follows: 10,619 in 2023, 11,928 in 2024, 12,888 in 2025, and 1,227 in January 2026. Of these, 9,350 were traced in 2023, 10,130 in 2024, 9,402 in 2025, and 592 by February 15, 2026.
In Chhattisgarh, cases of kidnapping of women were registered as follows: 4 in 2023, 7 in 2024, 7 in 2025, and 1 in January 2026. Of these, 4 were traced in 2023, 7 in 2024, 6 in 2025, and 1 by February 15, 2026.
Likewise, cases of women being lured away in Chhattisgarh were registered as follows: 13 in 2023, 3 in 2024, 2 in 2025, and zero by January 2026. Of these, 13 were traced in 2023, 2 in 2024, and 1 in 2025.
