Digvijaya Singh’s praise for BJP-RSS triggers political row
New Delhi | Desk: Political tensions have escalated in the country after senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh praised the organizational strength of the BJP and RSS. The BJP has termed the statement an "open rebellion" against Rahul Gandhi's leadership.
During a press conference on Saturday, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, saying that he is leading his party "upside down" because he has been sidelined within the party itself.
Trivedi described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "man of humble origins" who rose from the grassroots to the top, while sarcastically referring to Rahul Gandhi as "Jawaharlal's son" and mocking his leadership.
The controversy began when Digvijaya Singh shared an old picture of Narendra Modi on the social media platform X and praised the strength of the BJP-RSS cadre.
However, as the controversy grew, he later clarified that he was only talking about the strength of the organization and that his ideology is strictly against that of the BJP-RSS.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also criticized the statement, saying that Digvijaya Singh's remarks clearly show that the Congress organization under Rahul Gandhi's leadership has completely collapsed.
Furthermore, Sudhanshu Trivedi, citing former US President Barack Obama's book, questioned Rahul Gandhi's seriousness and knowledge, and expressed surprise that he was invited to speak at American universities.
