Under the revised scheme, consumers have been divided into two categories, Active and Inactive.

Consumers whose electricity connections were disconnected on or before March 31, 2023, have been classified as inactive. For them, the entire surcharge (interest) on the pending bills will be waived. In addition, BPL consumers will get a 75% concession on the principal amount along with a complete surcharge waiver. The remaining amounts can be paid in installments over 40-60 months, depending on the outstanding dues.

Active domestic and agricultural consumers will have to register to avail the scheme. After the surcharge is waived, consumers choosing lump-sum payment will get an additional 10% concession of the principal amount. While those paying in three installments will receive a 5% concession, and those opting for six installments will not get any discount on the principal amount. At the time of registration, it will be mandatory to deposit at least 5 percent of the total outstanding dues.

Consumers can register through the Mor Bijli mobile app. Those who do not have access to an internet connection can visit their nearest electricity office or sub-divisional office and register through the Prakash app with assistance from officials.
