Chirmiri police crack down on Interstate drug trade

Chirmiri | Desk: Police have achieved a major success against the illegal drug trade in Chhattisgarh's Surguja division. Chirmiri police have dismantled a well-organized syndicate with links to Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Jharkhand.

The mastermind of this entire network, Russell Ekka, is now in police custody. Led by Station House Officer Vijay Singh, the operation began with the arrest of Sheikh Altaf and Kishan Rajak, from whom drug injections were recovered.

During intensive interrogation, the names of Shubham Yadav and then the main kingpin, Russell Ekka, were revealed. A special police team, using technical surveillance and mobile location, surrounded and apprehended them.

The police investigation has revealed shocking revelations. It is reported that Russell Ekka spent the proceeds from this illegal drug trade on luxuries.

Recently, during a trip to Goa with his girlfriend, he spent ₹5 lakh in just a few days.

A police team raided the Borabanda area of Hyderabad to apprehend Vaindla Vasu, who handled the gang's financial management. He was arrested and brought to Chirmiri.

Rasel cleverly used his associates' accounts for banking transactions instead of his own to evade the law.

The gang imported drug consignments from Garhwa, Jharkhand, via passenger buses. All the accused, including Rajat Kumar, a resident of Surajpur, have been jailed in this case. Rasel has previously been charged with several criminal offenses in areas like Ambikapur and Manendragarh.
