Chhattisgarh Recalls Faulty Albendazole Batches After 14 Months of Use
Raipur | Correspondent: The Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC) has stopped the use of six batches of Albendazole tablets (D-12), a deworming medicine given to children over the past 14 months.
These tablets were supplied to Ambedkar Hospital, DKS Super Specialty Hospital, several health centers in Raipur, and hospitals in Balodabazar, as well as to Anganwadi centers.
According to the official order, four batches manufactured in June 2024 and two batches manufactured in March 2025 have been recalled. Hospitals have been instructed to return all remaining stock. Reports suggest that the drugs had crossed the 14-month mark since production, meaning children were being treated with potentially substandard medicines throughout this period.
This is not the first time CGMSC has faced such issues. Just a month ago, rusted surgical blades were found in supplies. In the last five months alone, three medicines, five injections, and four medical kits and devices provided by the corporation have been flagged for poor quality.
