Raipur | Correspondent: A constable belonging to the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district. The incident took place on Monday at the Urandabeda security camp, which falls under the Farasgaon subdivision.

According to the police, the deceased jawan has been identified as Jogendra Netam of the 5th Battalion. The constable was on duty when he suddenly shot himself with his INSAS service rifle.

The sound of the gunshot caused a stir in the camp, and colleagues rushed to the spot, but he had already succumbed to his injuries.

Kondagaon Superintendent of Police Pankaj Chandra stated that preliminary investigations and initial findings suggest the constable took this extreme step due to stress stemming from personal reasons.

However, the exact reason behind the suicide can only be confirmed after a thorough and detailed investigation. The police are investigating the matter in depth.

It is noteworthy that this is the first instance of a security personnel deployed in anti-Naxal operations committing suicide in the Bastar division since the state government declared the Bastar region completely free of armed Maoist presence on March 31 of this year.
