Blunders by Nehru are being rectified by Modi's leadership, says BJP spokesperson
Modi correcting Nehru’s mistakes: BJP
New Delhi | Desk: The BJP strongly countered Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's accusations, calling former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's legacy a "historical blunder."
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia stated at a press conference that Nehru's legacy included "historical blunders" such as allowing Pakistan and China to occupy Indian territory and granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that these "blunders" are being rectified under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, exemplified by the abrogation of Article 370.
Earlier, at the inauguration ceremony of the Nehru Centre India at Jawahar Bhawan on Friday, Sonia Gandhi alleged that there was a systematic effort underway to distort the former Prime Minister's ideas and undermine his contributions to the building of modern India.
She said, "Their aim is not just to erase him, but to actually destroy the social, political, and economic foundations on which our nation was founded and built."
Responding to Gandhi's allegations, Bhatia cited Nehru's legacy as including Article 370 in the Constitution, refusing to accept the UN Security Council seat resolution in favor of China, and allowing Pakistan and China to "occupy" Indian territory. He termed these decisions as "historic mistakes."
Reacting to Sonia Gandhi's use of the word "destruction," Bhatia described it as a "synonym" for Rahul Gandhi and called him the "Bhasmasura" of Indian politics.
He claimed that Rahul Gandhi "destroyed" the parties of Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra, Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi, and also "ruined" the prospects of RJD's Tejashwi Yadav in the recent Bihar assembly elections.
He further said that he is now heading to Uttar Pradesh, where Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party is his next target.
Rejecting the opposition leader's allegation of preventing foreign dignitaries from meeting him, Bhatia accused Rahul Gandhi of practicing "politics of lies." He cited Rahul Gandhi's meetings with former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last year, and with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon this year.
Bhatia further said that while the entire world looks at India and praises it, there is a group in India that tries to suppress core issues of national interest and national security by raising issues related to the 'fake Gandhi,' Rahul Gandhi.
