Netanar village prepares for Amit Shah’s visit

Bastar | Correspondent: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s two-day visit to Bastar is scheduled for May 18. In preparation for this visit, the district administration has already begun making arrangements. On the first day of his tour, Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Netanar village, located approximately 25 kilometers from the city of Jagdalpur.

This village is the ancestral home of the legendary martyr Gunda Dhur a prominent leader of the historic Bhumkal Movement. During his visit to the village, Home Minister Amit Shah will interact with the personnel stationed at the local CRPF camp and spend the night there; he is also scheduled to meet with local villagers and the heads of various tribal communities in the Bastar region.

Consequently, preparations are currently in full swing in Netanar village. Meanwhile, a palpable sense of excitement and joy is evident among the local villagers regarding Amit Shah's upcoming visit.

Joy among local villagers

Local residents of Netanar village noted that this marks the very first time a Union Minister is visiting their village. Historically, Netanar village was once a stronghold of Naxalites. It was in this very village that Naxalites previously blew up the Forest Rest House using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Furthermore, the Naxalites had carried out another IED blast in this area, which resulted in the martyrdom of seven security personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Darbha police station.

This visit marks the first time a Union Minister is arriving in the village since it was successfully liberated from Naxalite influence. The villagers are understandably delighted by this development. On Tuesday, officials from both the district administration and the police department visited the village to oversee the arrangements. A helipad is currently being constructed by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the vicinity of the police camp located within the village.

To attend the meeting of the Central Zonal council

According to Bastar Inspector General (IG) Sundarraj P, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive at Jagdalpur Airport on May 18 aboard a special aircraft. From there, he will proceed to Netanar village via an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17 helicopter; after having a meal with the troops at the local CRPF camp, he will spend the night at the facility.

On the following day, May 19, he will attend the 26th meeting of the Central Zonal Council, which is being hosted at a private hotel in Jagdalpur. The meeting will be attended by the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh, as well as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai. The IG stated that robust security arrangements are being made in view of the Union Home Minister's visit to Bastar.
