T.S. Singh Deo warns of hunger strike

Ambikapur | Correspondent: The political tension between the Congress party and the police administration is increasing in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh. Congress leaders have continued their protest outside the Vishrampur police station and warned of a bigger agitation if their demands are not met.

Former Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Deo said that if no action is taken by 6 PM, he will begin an indefinite hunger strike. He said Tuesday was already his regular fasting day, and the protest fast would continue if the issue remains unresolved.

Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also reached the protest site on Tuesday to support party workers.

The protest began after a case under the Arms Act was filed against Congress leader Narendra Jain during the Shivnandanpur Nagar Panchayat election dispute. Congress leaders claim the case is unfair and are demanding its withdrawal.

The party has also accused the police of not registering an FIR against the BJP workers involved in the clash.

Congress leaders, led by state president Deepak Baij, have been protesting outside the police station since May 25.

The protest continued through the night, with senior leaders remaining at the site.

Congress has warned that if no solution is found, T.S. Singh Deo will begin a fast unto death, while Deepak Baij will start a relay hunger strike.
