PVTG Korwa families demand basic amenities
Jashpur | Correspondent: Members of the Korwa community submitted an application to the district Collector demanding basic facilities such as roads and clean drinking water in their village, Mandartangna.
Mandartangna, located in the remote interiors of Jashpur district, is largely dominated by the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Korwa community.
The Pahadi Korwa community is also recognized as the “adopted sons of the President.”
Villagers say that despite the ongoing PM Janman Yojana, which aims to provide permanent housing, clean drinking water, electricity, and paved roads to extremely backward tribal families, their village continues to lack these basic facilities.
A total of 28 Korwa families live in the village and face severe difficulties due to the absence of essential amenities such as proper housing, safe drinking water, electricity, and paved roads.
There are only two hand pumps in the village, which dry up during the winter. As a result, the entire village is forced to depend on a single well for its daily water needs.
Villagers also complained that whenever someone falls ill, it becomes extremely difficult to reach a hospital because there is no proper road connecting the village to nearby health facilities. (symbolic photo)
