Raipur । Correspondent: An FIR has been lodged against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Police officials confirmed the development on Sunday.

The case was registered at the Mana police station in Raipur, following a complaint by local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Gopal Samanto. The controversy stems from remarks Moitra allegedly made during a conversation with journalists in Nadia, West Bengal, on Thursday. She is accused of claiming that Amit Shah failed to curb illegal Bangladeshi infiltration and suggested that his "head should be chopped off" for this failure.

The remarks sparked a political uproar, with BJP leaders condemning them as reflective of an "anti-national mindset."

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai called the alleged statement "despicable and unacceptable."

Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad also demanded strict action against Moitra, stating that such remarks violate political decorum and harm India's democratic traditions and social harmony.

Raipur police have stated that an investigation is underway, and necessary legal procedures will be followed.
