Gandhi alleges election was ‘Not Fair'

New Delhi | Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has given his first reaction after the crushing defeat of the Grand Alliance of Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal in the Bihar Assembly elections. He called the result "astonishing" and alleged that "this election was not fair from the beginning."

Nitish Kumar's JDU and BJP alliance (NDA) is returning to power by winning more than 200 of Bihar's 243 seats. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav's RJD and Congress alliance suffered a massive defeat, failing to even cross 40 seats.

Following this defeat, the BJP has targeted the Congress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the Congress a "burden" and said, "Anyone who forms an alliance with them will sink!"

Amidst all this, Rahul Gandhi expressed his views on "X." He wrote, "I want to express my gratitude to those who voted for our alliance in Bihar. We failed to win because this election was not fair from the beginning."

Rahul added, "This fight is to save democracy and the Constitution. Congress will review these results and strengthen its fight to protect democracy."

It is noteworthy that after the victory in Bihar, PM Modi targeted Congress more than RJD. He said that Congress is more offended by anything said about 'jungle raj' than RJD. Modi, taking a dig at Congress's poor performance in previous elections, said, "The number of people who won in Bihar elections is more than Congress has won in the last six assembly elections combined. Congress is a Muslim League-Maoist Congress party. There is so much disappointment in Congress that a new split is forming within it, and there will be another split."

This time, Congress's performance has been the worst in Bihar's history. Not only is it being blamed for its own poor performance, but it is also being blamed for the defeat of its ally RJD. RJD, formed by Lalu Prasad Yadav in 1997, also recorded its worst performance in the last 28 years in this election.

Many are now blaming Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, Tejashwi Yadav, as well as Sonia Gandhi's son, Rahul Gandhi's, for the RJD's result.

Rahul Gandhi launched the "Voter Rights Yatra" in Bihar on August 17th, which initially drew large crowds. However, the yatra became chaotic after a few days due to a lack of planning. Crowds swelled again after Tejashwi Yadav joined, but many experts believe that without thorough planning, such a program cannot be fully successful.
