Dongargarh post office scam worth crores, Branch manager missing
Rajnandgaon | Correspondent: A major financial embezzlement case has come to light in Jatkanhar village, located in the Dongargarh block of Rajnandgaon district. Local villagers camped outside the Dongargarh post office on Monday and protested.
Protesters allege that their hard-earned savings at the Jatkanhar branch have now disappeared. According to villagers, approximately ₹3 crore (approximately $30 million) is missing from their accounts, although this substantial amount has not yet been officially confirmed by the postal department or the administration.
The tension intensified when it was discovered that branch manager Ashish Mandavi had been missing for several days. This incident has strengthened the suspicions of account holders.
Most of the affected people are farmers and laborers who had deposited their land sales, crop proceeds, and life savings at the post office for a secure future. Many villagers reported that when they checked their balances online, the amount they had deposited did not appear in their accounts, causing panic in the village.
The angry crowd sat on the main road, shouting slogans and demanding a fair investigation and immediate FIRs against the culprits. The villagers have warned the administration that if their accounts are not audited and their money is not returned soon, they will intensify their protests.
At present, the police and administration are investigating the entire matter, but no official results have been announced yet.
