Boy crushed by tractor-trolley, body dumped, two arrested
Police arrest driver and owner after minor dies in tractor accident
Rajnandgaon | Desk: A 13-year-old boy died after being hit by a tractor-trolley in Matekheda village under Gaindatola police station in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district.
Police have arrested the tractor driver and the owner. They have been charged with causing death due to negligence and trying to hide evidence.
The incident took place on April 30. The boy’s father, Raghuveer Singh Mandavi, reported that his son Bhavesh Mandavi was missing.
The family suspected that a villager, Jaswant Netam, had taken the boy along. When the child did not return by morning, police detained Jaswant on suspicion.
During questioning, Jaswant revealed that he was doing land-leveling work at a farm owned by Omprakash Sahu.
He asked the boy to help by unhooking the trolley. While the tractor was moving, the trolley became unstable and overturned. The boy was crushed under it and died on the spot.
After the accident, the driver and the owner tried to hide the incident. They carried the body on a tractor and dumped it in a field in Keshotala village, about 3 km away.
Acting on information from the accused, police recovered the body.
Both Jaswant Netam (25) and Omprakash Sahu (35) have been arrested and sent to jail.
The tractors involved have also been seized.
