Rahul Gandhi to Train Chhattisgarh Congress Leaders; Political War of Words Intensifies
Raipur | Correspondent: A special 10-day training camp is being organized in Raipur to strengthen the newly appointed Congress district and city presidents. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will participate in this training program scheduled from June 21 to June 30, 2026, and share strategies to sharpen the organization's effectiveness.
AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal has issued official directives regarding this. Rahul Gandhi's upcoming visit has intensified the war of words in Chhattisgarh's political landscape.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has launched a scathing attack regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party's recent electoral victories. Speaking to the media at the Durg Circuit House, he remarked that following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP's strike rate in states that subsequently held assembly elections suddenly soared to 90 percent.
Citing states like Haryana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal, Baghel asserted that such success is impossible in a normal political climate.
Terming it "not theft, but a dacoity of democracy," he alleged that election results are being manipulated through changes in Election Commission procedures and voter lists, thereby undermining the power of the public's vote.
He also raised serious questions regarding electoral transparency, citing reports of EVMs being destroyed in West Bengal.
Earlier, former Chief Minister and current Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh had taken a dig at the Congress while highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led central government over the past 12 years.
Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi's visit to Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh remarked that wherever Rahul Gandhi goes in the country, the Congress party faces total ruin.
He stated sarcastically that Rahul Gandhi should certainly visit Chhattisgarh so that the Congress party's true standing here becomes evident to everyone. It was following this statement that a major ideological clash between Bhupesh Baghel and Raman Singh was witnessed in the state's politics.
