AAP leaders arrested before agitation, politics heats up

Jagdalpur | Correspondent: Amidst the Aam Aadmi Party's vocal stance on basic public issues in the Bastar division, the police have taken a tough stance. Just before a planned protest against the drinking water crisis and corruption in the Narayanpur and South Bastar regions, the police detained several AAP officials and workers, including AAP leader Narendra Nag, from their residences.

The AAP alleges that the administration took this action with the intention of suppressing the movement.

The Aam Aadmi Party has strongly criticized the police action, calling it undemocratic. The organization claims that even the families of the detained workers have not been informed about their whereabouts, a direct violation of constitutional rights.

Party leaders clarified that they have long been raising their voices peacefully against the water shortage and administrative corruption in the region, but instead of finding solutions, the government is adopting repressive policies.

Senior party leaders criticized the government, saying that if the administration had discharged its responsibilities honestly, the public would not have needed to take to the streets.

They warned that if the activists were not released soon and concrete action was not taken on public issues, the protests would not be limited to Bastar alone but would expand throughout Chhattisgarh.
