23-year-old woman raped, killed in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district
Bhubaneswar | Odisha: A shocking incident has emerged from Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, where a 23-year-old woman was raped and later murdered by two different men on the same day. According to police reports, the woman had left home with the intention of marrying her boyfriend, but he took her to a secluded spot, raped her, and left her alone at the Rahama bus stand.
While the victim was waiting for help at the bus stand, a man from Jharkhand lured her on his motorcycle under the pretense of offering assistance. The accused took her to the rooftop of his rented room in Paradip, where he raped her again and, to conceal his identity, threw her from a four-story building, killing her on the spot.
Jagatsinghpur Superintendent of Police Ankit Kumar Verma stated that the police acted swiftly and arrested both accused, and a case of kidnapping, rape, and murder has been registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The incident has sparked outrage in the state. Former Chief Minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik has strongly condemned the heinous crime, questioning the state's law and order situation, and demanding justice for the victim's family.
