10-year-old injured in Leopard attack
Leopard attacks child in Gariaband
Raipur | Correspondent: A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured after a leopard attacked him in Kodobattar village of Gariaband district in Chhattisgarh on Thursday evening. The animal had grabbed the child by the neck and tried to drag him towards the forest.
Hearing his screams, his parents rushed to the spot and bravely fought the leopard. They managed to free the child from its jaws, after which the animal ran back into the forest.
According to villagers, the boy was returning home after watching TV at a neighbour’s house when the leopard, hiding nearby, suddenly attacked him.
At first, the family thought it was a stray dog, but they soon realised it was a leopard. The child suffered serious injuries to his neck and body. He was taken to a local hospital and later referred to Raipur for better treatment.
The incident has created panic in nearby villages. Locals said wild animals often come close to villages during the summer in search of food and water.
Forest officials reached the spot and installed camera traps to track the leopard’s movement. Villagers have also been advised to stay alert, avoid going out alone at night, and keep children indoors.
