No marriage till permanent selections for Agniveers

New Delhi | Desk: The Indian Army has issued a strict directive for Agniveers recruited under the 'Agnipath' scheme, stating that they must remain unmarried until they secure a permanent position (as a soldier) in the army.

The Army has clarified that Agniveers who wish to join the regular service under the 25 percent permanent quota after completing their four-year tenure must remain unmarried until the selection process is complete.

If an Agniveer gets married during this period, they will be declared "ineligible" for permanent appointment, regardless of their service record or examination results.

According to army sources, this strict rule has been implemented to maintain discipline and ensure that soldiers are mentally and physically prepared for military operations at all times.

It is noteworthy that the tenure of the first batch of Agniveers is ending in July 2026, and with this new regulation, it will now be mandatory for those aspiring for permanent jobs to maintain their unmarried status.
