Korba | Correspondent: An atmosphere of panic has once again gripped the Kudmura Range, under the Korba Forest Division of Chhattisgarh, following the arrival of elephants. A herd of nine elephants, having returned from the direction of Dharamjaigarh, has wreaked havoc in the Katradera area of Gurma.

The elephants not only damaged a villager's hut but also trespassed into the fields of two farmers, completely trampling their standing crops.

According to information received from the Forest Department, this herd of elephants was roaming in the vicinity of Kalmitikra on Saturday, an area that borders the Dharamjaigarh Forest Division.

In light of the elephants' presence, the department has issued public announcements in the bordering villages and has strictly instructed residents not to venture into the forests.

Meanwhile, there is news of relief for the residents of the Katghora Forest Division. The massive herd of 48 elephants present in this region is currently calm, and no untoward incidents have been reported.

Nevertheless, the Forest Department team is continuously monitoring the elephants to prevent any loss of life or property. Officials have appealed to the public not to attempt to approach or provoke the elephants. (Symbolic Photo)
