Fuel crisis disrupts kharif preparation in rural Chhattisgarh
Long queues at pumps as farmers face diesel shortage
Jagdalpur | Correspondent: Rising global tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States have begun affecting farmers in rural Chhattisgarh, with reports of a diesel shortage disrupting Kharif preparations.
Long queues of tractors and other agricultural vehicles were seen early morning at petrol pumps in areas like Munda, Lavan, and Lahod.
Farmers say recent heavy rains have allowed them to begin ploughing for the paddy season, but the sudden fuel shortage has now slowed down fieldwork. Many say the situation has become difficult at a crucial time.
Petrol pump operators have reportedly started rationing diesel, giving only ₹1,000–₹1,500 worth of fuel per vehicle due to limited supply.
Some farmers also allege irregularities and possible black marketing, though these claims have not been officially confirmed by authorities.
On Tuesday morning, long queues of tractors led to traffic congestion in Lahod, with farmers expressing frustration over the ongoing shortage and delays.
