Raipur | Correspondent: The Chhattisgarh government has taken a significant step to address the infrastructure deficit in the formerly Naxal-affected districts of the Bastar division. The state government has decided to expedite the construction of permanent buildings for 506 Anganwadi centers currently operating in these regions without dedicated premises of their own.

This initiative will cover the districts of Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker, Narayanpur, and Sukma-areas where, despite the expansion of roads and public services in recent years, numerous Anganwadi centers continue to function without dedicated buildings.

Speaking on the matter, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government's primary objective is to ensure that no Anganwadi center in the districts declared "Naxal-free" remains without a proper building.

Target: Construction Completion by March 2027

According to government officials, the construction of each Anganwadi building is estimated to cost approximately ₹11.69 lakh. The funds for this project will be mobilized through the convergence of resources from the Department of Women and Child Development, MGNREGA, and local sources such as the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and CSR funds.

The Chief Minister has issued directives to all District Collectors to accord priority to the approval of these construction works and to ensure their mandatory completion by March 2027.

'BaLA' Concept to be Integrated into Anganwadis

The "BaLA" (Building as a Learning Aid) concept will be incorporated into these newly constructed buildings. Under this approach, the walls and structural elements of the buildings are designed in such a manner that they themselves serve as learning tools for pre-school children.
