Raipur | Correspondent: Chhattisgarh's administration has ramped up preparations for the upcoming paddy procurement season. The state will conduct the procurement process at designated centers from November 15, 2024, to January 31, 2027. During the 'Pandwani Mahasammelan' held in Durg, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai officially announced these dates and confirmed that the state government will procure paddy from farmers at a support price of ₹3,100 per quintal.

Under this scheme, registered farmers will be permitted to sell a maximum of 21 quintals of paddy per acre of their agricultural land.

To ensure transparency and efficiency in the procurement system, several key technical and procedural measures have been implemented for this season. It has been made mandatory for farmers to register online via the 'AgriStack' portal; without this registration, the sale of produce will not be possible.

To prevent overcrowding at the procurement centers, paddy will be accepted only on the dates assigned through a token system. Furthermore, to verify the identity of the actual farmers, a biometric authentication process will be conducted at the procurement sites.

Additionally, strict adherence to quality standards will be enforced; any consignment of paddy found to have a moisture content exceeding 17 percent will be rejected.

With the aim of boosting the agricultural sector, the state government has set an ambitious target to procure 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy this year an increase of 20 lakh metric tonnes over the 140 lakh metric tonnes procured last year.
