'Blatant Lie' said Bhupesh Baghel after Amit Shah's claim
Baghel vs Shah
Raipur | Correspondent: Politics surrounding the issue of Naxalism in Chhattisgarh heated up again after former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel termed Union Home Minister Amit Shah's allegations a 'blatant lie'. Baghel also challenged him to a public debate at any time and place of his choosing.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had claimed that no action was taken against the Naxals during the Congress regime.
Sharing a video on social media, Baghel stated that Amit Shah's claims are not only misleading but also an insult to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives in anti-Naxal operations.
Enumerating his government's achievements, he noted that during his tenure, 600 villages in the Bastar region were liberated from Naxal influence, and the trust of the local populace was won through the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, as well as through improvements in education and healthcare facilities.
Reminding Shah of a past promise, Baghel questioned the fate of the announcement to provide ₹1 crore each to villages declared Naxal-free.
On the other hand, current Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has launched a scathing attack on Bhupesh Baghel's claims. Sai alleged that the previous Congress government failed to cooperate with the Centre and proved to be a complete failure in the fight against Naxalism.
He further stated that after a review, which was conducted after resuming office in 2023, it was revealed that 75 percent of the Country's Naxal-related activities were confined to Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister said statements made by Baghel are just a desperate atempt of masking his own failures. Meanwhile, Congress State President Deepak Baij also hit back at the BJP, asserting that the spread of Naxalism in the state had actually occurred during the tenure of the previous BJP government led by Raman Singh.
