37-year-old killed by live wires set for poaching
Poacher trap kills man
Ambikapur | Correspondent: On Tuesday night, a 37-year-old man named Mishra Yadav died on the spot after coming into contact with exposed live wires laid by poachers to trap wild animals at the Musakhol Nursery in Mainpat, located in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district. It is reported that the deceased had gone to the nursery to procure wood for the construction of his house, where he inadvertently stumbled into the galvanized iron (GI) wires spread out by the poachers.
During the incident, while attempting to save him, his brother-in-law also sustained burns from the electric shock.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Kamleshwarpur police arrived at the scene on Wednesday morning; they had the power supply to the main line disconnected before taking custody of the body.
During the investigation, the police discovered that the poachers had tapped directly into a nearby 11,000 kV high-voltage power line and had strung wires across the entire area.
This deadly trap claimed not only the young man's life, but a jackal was also found dead at the scene. The police have seized a large quantity of wire from the site and have registered a case of culpable homicide against unidentified poachers, initiating a manhunt to apprehend them.
