Bilaspur | Correspondent: A woman who was taken to Shriram Care Hospital after complaining of ear pain died during an angioplasty procedure, triggering serious allegations of medical negligence by her family.
Following her death, the grieving family members staged a protest inside the hospital premises, raised slogans and created a commotion. The situation was brought under control after the Civil Lines CSP and the Station House Officer (SHO), along with a police contingent, reached the spot and pacified the agitated family. Civil Lines police have registered a case (Merg/inquest) and initiated a formal investigation into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Sukham Bai Sahu, a resident of Thakurdeva in Masturi, was initially taken to Shriram Care Hospital by her family after she complained of ear pain. She was subsequently referred to a super-specialty hospital in Koni, where cardiologist Dr. Abhishek Kumar examined her and reportedly diagnosed a blockage in her heart.
The doctor advised the family to undergo angiography, followed by angioplasty. Subsequently, Sukham Bai was brought back to Shriram Care Hospital, where Dr. Abhishek Kumar performed the angioplasty. However, she died during the course of treatment.

Meanwhile, the Shriram Care Hospital management has categorically denied the allegations of medical negligence, maintaining that there was no lapse in the treatment provided to the patient. However, a detailed statement explaining the circumstances leading to the death, the precise cause of death, and the medical procedures undertaken is still awaited.
The police investigation is underway, and the circumstances surrounding the woman's death are yet to be established.
