Raigarh | Correspondent: A 55-year-old farmer died on the spot after coming into contact with a live electric wire in the Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district. After receiving information about the incident, the Sarangarh City Kotwali police took cognizance of the matter, initiated the necessary legal proceedings, and are conducting a thorough investigation.
This tragic accident occurred on Sunday morning in Chharra village. The victim, Babulal Nishad (55), son of Ratan Sahu, was a farmer by profession. As he did every day, he had gone to his field in the morning to inspect his paddy crop.
An LT (low-tension) electric wire connected to an irrigation borewell had broken and lay at the edge of the field.
While occupied with checking his crops, the farmer failed to notice the broken wire lying on the ground. As soon as he inadvertently came into contact with it, he suffered a severe electric shock and died on the spot.
