Stray dogs spotted on patients’ beds at Gonda Medical College, UP
Lucknow | Desk: A shocking video has emerged from the Gonda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh, raising serious questions about hygiene and patient safety in government hospitals. Shared by the Congress party on social media, the video shows stray dogs comfortably resting on patients' beds inside the hospital's emergency ward.
The video shows three dogs occupying beds meant for patients, while another dog roams beneath a bed. This incident has caused a stir in the health department and given opposition parties another opportunity to attack the government. This is the medical college in Gonda, UP.
• A few days ago, rats were seen roaming in the patients' wards here.
• Now, dogs are comfortably resting in the patients' wards.
The Congress party, taking a dig at the situation, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that a few days ago, rats were seen roaming in the same hospital, and now dogs have made the ward their home. The party sharply questioned whether BJP leaders and ministers would get their families treated in such hospitals.
It is noteworthy that just a few days ago, a video from the orthopedic ward of the same medical college went viral, showing a large number of rats creating havoc near patients' beds and medicines. These recurring incidents have exposed the shortcomings of the state's healthcare infrastructure.
The hospital administration has not yet issued any official response or clarification regarding this latest video. However, this issue is not limited to Gonda. The problem of inconvenience and danger to patients due to rats and stray animals has resonated at the national level before.
In September 2025, a political controversy erupted over the death of infants due to rat bites in a government hospital in Indore. Now, this negligence at Gonda Medical College has once again raised concerns about putting patients' lives at risk and the spread of infections within the hospital premises.
