Mumbai | Desk: Maharashtra politics has heated up over the alleged illegal transfer of government land in Pune. It is alleged that Amedia Enterprise, a company owned by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar, illegally purchased the land in Mundhwa.

The opposition, including the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, has claimed that the actual value of this 40-acre government land was approximately ₹1,800 crore, but it was allegedly sold to Parth Pawar's company for just ₹300 crore. Furthermore, stamp duty of ₹21 crore is alleged to have been waived.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in a statement in Nagpur, said that no one will be spared in this case. However, the opposition is questioning the absence of Parth Pawar's name in the FIR. Fadnavis clarified that the FIR names all involved parties, including the company and officials, and that action will be taken against anyone found guilty in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar defended himself, stating that his son was unaware that the land his company was purchasing was government land and that its transfer was illegal. He also claimed that the deal was cancelled because no payment had been made.

The FIR names Digvijay Patil, Parth Pawar's business partner, Sheetal Tejwani, the power of attorney holder on behalf of the sellers, Ravindra Taru, a suspended sub-registrar, and Suryakant Yewale, a suspended Pune tehsildar. The FIR also names 272 other individuals.

This 40-acre land, a group of 272 smaller plots, is known as Mahar Watan land. This land was originally granted to the Mahar community (now a Scheduled Caste) for rituals and came under government control after independence. The law states that this land cannot be sold or transferred without government permission.

The FIR was registered on November 6th following a complaint, bringing the alleged corruption case to public attention.
