Raipur | Correspondent: State Congress President Deepak Baij signals a major agitation against the ruling government regarding the installation of the smart meters and persistent power cuts.

Baij alleges that electricity bills have suddenly surged, causing distress among the general public.

He demands that just as Uttar Pradesh state claimed to withdraw smart meters, they should be removed in Chhattisgarh as well.

If the demands are not fulfilled, the Congress party will stage massive agitation statewide. The party will reach people across villages and cities to mobilize a mass movement, he added.

The State Congress President has criticised the BJP government over frequent and unannounced power cuts in Chhattisgarh. He said that during the summer season, people in both urban and rural areas are facing long hours of electricity outages.

He added that Chhattisgarh was once known as a power-surplus state, but the situation has now worsened, with daily power cuts lasting for several hours. The problem becomes even more severe at night.

He also said that people are struggling with high electricity bills, low voltage, and irregular supply. According to him, the government is failing both to provide stable electricity and to manage the system properly.
