Commercial LPG crisis forces shops to shut
Gas crisis hits trade
Balrampur | Desk: A severe shortage of commercial gas cylinders over the past few days in Ramanujganj, a town in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district, has crippled the local business community. With the supply chain having completely collapsed, small hotel operators and street vendors in the town are now facing a grave crisis regarding their livelihoods.
The situation has become so dire that, due to the unavailability of gas, many shopkeepers have been compelled to shut down their establishments, thereby completely cutting off their source of daily income.
Amidst this scarcity, a significant shift is now being witnessed in the town, where the shortage of modern fuel sources has pushed people back toward the ways of the past. Business owners who previously relied on gas stoves are now turning to wood, coal, and traditional earthen stoves to keep their shops operational.
An unprecedented surge in the demand for iron stoves has also been recorded in the market, making it evident that people, albeit out of necessity, are rapidly reverting to traditional resources.
If the supply of commercial gas is not normalized promptly, the local economy could face severe repercussions. For the time being, the business community in Ramanujganj is struggling to somehow get its operations back on track by relying on these alternative arrangements.
