Arun Pannalal denied bail in objectionable remarks case
Court rejects bail plea over alleged objectionable Facebook remarks
Raipur | Correspondent: A court in Chhattisgarh has refused to grant relief to Arun Pannalal, the head of the Chhattisgarh Christian Forum, who is accused of making objectionable and inflammatory remarks against Hinduism and Lord Shiva on the social media platform Facebook. Considering the gravity of the matter, the court completely rejected the bail plea filed on behalf of the accused.
During the hearing, lawyers strongly opposed the bail application, arguing that such attacks on revered deities and religious sentiments pose a significant threat to communal harmony and social brotherhood.
The bail plea was vehemently opposed by the Legal Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Presenting their arguments before the court, Legal Cell State Convener Brijesh Nath Pandey, District Convener Nandkumar Sahu, Bar Association President Dinesh Dewangan, and Media In-charges Gulshan Sahu and Rishabh Mistry contended that remarks hurting religious sentiments cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The lawyers asserted that strict legal action would be taken against any such objectionable activity within the framework of the law. After hearing the arguments from both sides at length, the court flatly refused to grant bail to the accused; subsequently, the Legal Cell expressed its gratitude to all the fellow lawyers who provided their support.
