American unhappy with the military strikes

Washington | Desk: The massive military operation launched by the United States and Israel against Iran and the subsequent regional retaliation have galvanized American politics. According to a recent Reuters-Ipsos poll, the American public is deeply unhappy with the military strikes.

The poll, conducted on Saturday and Sunday, revealed that only 25 percent, or one in four Americans, supported the attacks on Iran. This figure could pose a significant challenge for President Donald Trump, who took office with a promise to end "endless wars."

The survey results come as the Trump administration has confirmed the deaths of three American soldiers in the conflict.

Despite these deaths, President Trump has described the operation as a "noble mission" and vowed to continue until the goal is achieved.

However, the data shows that even Trump's own support base is divided on the issue. While 55 percent of Republicans support the strikes, 42 percent say they will stop supporting the military operation if American soldiers are killed.

The opposition Democratic Party has strongly opposed the strikes, with 74 percent of its supporters calling the operation wrong.

Calling it Trump's "war of choice," politicians like Senator Chris Van Hollen have called for an immediate vote on the War Powers Resolution, which would mandate congressional approval for future military action.

With the midterm elections approaching, rising oil prices and growing threats to trade routes have also heightened public concern, which could further pressure the Trump administration in the coming days.
