The latest incident occurred in Binjhara village of the Jatga forest range. At dawn, a husband and wife went to the forest near their village to relieve themselves. Suddenly, a ferocious tusked elephant attacked them.

The husband managed to save his life and escape, but unfortunately, his wife, 36-year-old Meena Bai, fell victim to the elephant's fury. She was crushed to death under its heavy feet. Meena Bai was the wife of Ramkumar, and this horrific incident occurred as they were returning home.

Moreover, just 24 hours earlier, a similar shocking attack took place in the Chaitma forest range. A couple was sleeping peacefully in their courtyard when an elephant attacked them in the dead of night. The elephant trampled the wife to death, while the husband narrowly escaped by hiding under a cot.

About five days before this, a woman in the Bilaspur range was also killed in a similar attack by an elephant. According to officials, this aggressive tusked elephant, separated from its herd, has been wandering from Bilaspur to Katghora and is roaming around human settlements.

Upon receiving the information, a team from the Forest Department and local administration officials reached the spot. Katghora Divisional Forest Officer Nishant Jha said that the team immediately inspected the site and investigated the entire matter. An immediate relief amount of Rs. 25,000 has been handed over to the deceased's dependents in the presence of public representatives.

He said that the movements of this dangerous elephant are being closely monitored. Additionally, villagers have been urged to remain vigilant, avoid going alone near forests, and refrain from venturing out at night. Stricter measures are now needed to ensure both wildlife conservation and human safety, in order to prevent such tragedies.
