NTPC Deputy General Manager Caught Accepting ₹4.5 Lakh Bribe in Raigarh
Bilaspur | Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Bilaspur arrested Vijay Dubey, Deputy General Manager of NTPC Raigarh, while accepting a bribe of ₹4.5 lakh. He had allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh in exchange for facilitating compensation under a land acquisition and rehabilitation scheme. The case falls under Tamanar police station limits.
According to complainant Saudagar Gupta, a resident of Tilaipali, his house had been verbally divided among his three sons before NTPC acquired both the house and land. While compensation for the acquisition was received, the rehabilitation scheme entitled his sons to nearly ₹30 lakh. Of this, ₹14 lakh had been disbursed, while the remaining ₹16 lakh was pending. Dubey allegedly demanded a ₹5 lakh bribe to release the balance.
Gupta stated that Dubey had already taken ₹50,000 and continued pressing for further payment. Unwilling to comply, he lodged a complaint with ACB Bilaspur on 13 September. After verifying the allegations, the ACB set up a trap on Tuesday, 16 September. Dubey was caught red-handed near a petrol pump while accepting the bribe amount.
He has been booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). This marks the eighth trap operation by ACB Bilaspur in Raigarh district within the past year. Further investigation is underway.
