Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s, orders prompt Sheikh Hasina’s escape

Kolkata | Special Correspondent: In a dramatic turn of events, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been forced to resign and leave the country amid escalating protests and mounting pressure from the opposite forces.

On Saturday, Sheikh Hasina made a call to the IG police of Dhaka commending their efforts to handle the unrest. Responding to which IG made it clear that the police could no longer take a tougher stance against the opposition.

Senior officials further advised her opposition’s growing strength and unity bolstered by supporters are capable of challenging the police made it impossible to suppress.

Despite these warnings, Sheikh Hasina remained unwavering. Her sister, Sheikh Rehana was called and informed about the dire situation, even her persuasion was abruptly turned down.

In a final effort, Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who lived abroad intervened. Joy is his mother’s Chief Advisor. Over the phone call he urged and made her understand to resign and leave the country immediately for her safety. After which she also made up her mind to leave the country.

Reports indicate that Sheikh Hasina knew that she is being targeted yet intended to address the country for the last time before stepping down as she believed that she would control it, but the army officials stepped in warned her and gave a clear ultimatum of resign within 45 minutes or face the approaching danger.

Realizing the severity of the threat, Sheikh Hasina immediately resigned and fled to India.

Sheikh Hasina arrived in Agartala, Tripura, by helicopter with her sister Sheikh Rehana from Dhaka. From there, she traveled to Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, via a Bangladesh Air Force plane.

Reports suggest that she may seek refuge in Britain. Sheikh Rehana is already a British citizen, and her daughter, Tulip Siddiqui, is a Member of Parliament for the ruling Labour Party in the UK and serves as the city minister.

Sheikh Hasina’s daughter, Saima Wazed Putul, resides in Delhi for work.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Hasina’s son, mentioned that her dream was to transform Bangladesh into a developed nation, a goal she dedicated 15 years to achieving. At 77 years old, she now plans to spend time with her grandchildren.
