Naxalites hang two villagers for alleged police informing
Bijapur | Correspondent: Maoists residing in the remote Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh allegedly hanged two local villagers, accusing them of being police informers, while releasing a student during a Jan Adalat.
The incident has sparked fear among the villagers in the region.
Two days prior, the Naxalites had abducted Madvi Souza and Podiyam Kosa, residents of Jappemarka village, along with Podiyam Hidma, a student from Mirtur hostel.
The captives were held in the forest for two days before being brought to the Jan Adalat, which was attended by hundreds of villagers.
During the assembly, the Maoists sentenced the two villagers to death by hanging, using ropes in front of the crowd.
The student, Podiyam Hidma, was released after being given a warning.
Later, the Naxalites handed over the deceased, issuing threats against contacting the police.
The Bhairamgarh Area Committee of the Naxalites claimed responsibility for the killings and released images of the event on Thursday.
