UGC NET also gets cancelled
New Delhi | Desk: The Modi government has taken a decisive step following allegations of question paper leak in the UGC-NET exam.
The Ministry of Education has announced the cancellation of the June 2024 UGC-NET exam after receiving reports of irregularities from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center.
According to government sources, concerns were raised on June 19, 2024, regarding the integrity of the exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the country in two shifts.
These concerns prompted the Ministry of Education to initiate an inquiry into the matter to maintain the transparency and sanctity of the examination process.
The UGC-NET exam is pivotal for aspiring Assistant Professors in universities and colleges, as well as those seeking Junior Research Fellowships, with over 9 lakh candidates appearing for the June 2024 session.
The Ministry of Education stressed that canceling the exam was necessary to ensure fairness and maintain the highest standards of integrity in educational assessments.
In response to the cancellation, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the BJP government, questioning its handling of the education system and demanding accountability from the Education Minister.
She highlighted this incident alongside previous concerns over the NEET examination, emphasizing the need for swift action and reforms to prevent such lapses in the future.
The Ministry of Education has assured stakeholders that a fresh examination dates will be announced soon, aiming to restore trust among candidates and uphold the credibility of the UGC-NET examination process.
