SIT Formed to Investigate Cattle Transporters’ Death in Chhattisgarh

Raipur | Correspondent: The Raipur Police have formed a special investigation team to probe the murder of two Muslim youths suspected of cattle trafficking

The bodies of Guddu Khan (35) and Chand Miya Khan (23) were discovered beneath the rocks, while Saddam Qureshi (23) is currently fighting for his life. Chand Miya and Qureshi were cousins from the Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, whereas Guddu Khan was from Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred in Arang, where Chand Mian, Guddu Khan, and Saddam Qureshi, were transporting buffaloes in a truck from Mahasamund and were heading towards Odisha.

Early on Friday morning, a group of around a dozen bikers intercepted their truck on the Mahanadi bridge near Arang and attacked them.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore said “We received information that they were being chased by some individuals and were later found lying below the Mahanadi bridge. Upon receiving this information, our team immediately rushed to the scene. One of them was already deceased, and the other two were taken to a hospital in Mahasamund, where another succumbed to his injuries. The third individual is currently in serious condition at a hospital in Raipur city.”

In a video recorded before losing consciousness, Saddam stated that 14-15 individuals attacked them and threw him off the bridge.

The police have reported that Saddam is currently unable to provide a formal statement due to his injuries.

In response to the incident, a special investigation team has been formed by the Senior Superintendent of Police of Raipur Santosh Singh.

According to Santosh Singh-“We have registered an FIR under Section 304 (culpable homicide), 307 (murder attempt) and 34 (act done with common intention) of the IPC.”

This team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore, includes eight members tasked with investigating the case.
