Two STF jawans killed in Maoist blast

Bijapur | Correspondent: Two STF jawans were killed in an attack by suspected Maoists in Tarrem, a Maoist-affected area of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Four other jawans were seriously injured in the attack.

According to the police, a search operation was launched on July 16 following reports of Maoist presence from the Darbha Division, West Bastar Division, and Military Company No. 2 in the border area between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma.

Teams from the STF, District Reserve Guard, Cobra, and CRPF participated in the operation. On July 17, while returning, two STF jawans were killed by an IED blast carried out by suspected Maoists in the Tarrem area, with four other jawans sustaining serious injuries.

The deceased jawans were identified as Constable Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur.

Additional police forces have been dispatched to the Tarrem area.
