7 Maoists Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Chhattisgarh
Raipur | Correspondent: As many as 7 Maoists were gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on thursday. According to the police, many modern weapons have been found from the encounter site.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of the death toll increasing.
Police officials said that after receiving information about the presence of Maoists’ Platoon No. 16 and members of Indravati Area Committee on the border of Narayanpur and Bijapur, contingents of security forces were sent from Bastar, Dantewada and Narayanpur.
This included Bastar Fighters, District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force personnel.
There was an encounter with suspected Maoists on the Bijapur-Narayanpur border around 11 am on Thursday, which continued till the evening.
Dantewada district SP Gaurav Rai has claimed to have recovered bodies of seven Maoists and a large number of weapons from the spot after this encounter.
