PRSU students allege misconduct by hostel superintendent
Raipur | Correspondent: In a recent case involving alleged derogatory remarks based on caste, students from Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University staged protests.
Late on the night around 11:30 PM, the students gathered under the statue of Pandit Ravishankar Shukla on the university premises to voice their grievances.
The protesting students submitted a 33-point complaint against hostel superintendent Kamlesh Shukla, who is also an Assistant Professor in the Biotechnology department.
A participant in the protest told CG KHABAR that the hostel superintendent had been sending anti-religious and provocative messages in common hostel groups, which offended students from scheduled communities.
Additionally, students raised several other serious concerns regarding the superintendent’s conduct.
One of the protesting students alleged that the hostel superintendent regularly harassed students and violated their privacy.
He treated the hostel as his personal property, which the students found highly reprehensible.
Another student pointed out that the hostel accommodates people of various religions and sects, but the superintendent often disrupted the sense of brotherhood, fostering an atmosphere of religious tension.
A third student claimed that the superintendent, whose role is to maintain oversight and resolve hostel issues, lacked complete knowledge of the hostel operations.
Additionally, it was alleged that he tampered with the attendance register, calling for legal action against him.
In response to these large-scale protests and evidence, including screenshots, the university administration initiated an inquiry.
However, the students remain dissatisfied with this action, insisting that, given the physical and mental exploitation they have faced over the past three months, disciplinary action should be taken against the hostel superintendent, and an FIR should be lodged.
Assuring students of a thorough investigation, the university has formed a team to look into the matter. In the meantime, the hostel superintendent has been temporarily removed from his post.
