President Murmu honors AIIMS Raipur graduates
Raipur | Correspondent: President Droupadi Murmu conferred gold medals and special titles to 10 top-performing students at the second convocation of AIIMS Raipur today, while also awarding degrees to 514 graduates.
Highlighting the significance of their accomplishments, she praised their commitment and urged them to continue their journeys with dedication and empathy.
She emphasized that the medical profession holds immense responsibility, where each decision has a direct impact on lives, and encouraged the graduates to approach their roles with compassion.
President Murmu extended her congratulations, wishing all graduates a bright and successful future.
In her address, President Murmu reflected on the importance of compassion in medicine, encouraging the graduates to uphold kindness, empathy, and humanity in their work.
She highlighted the government’s initiatives, such as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana, aimed at enhancing health access and affordable medication.
She also noted that, over the last decade, seats in MBBS and postgraduate programs have increased and new AIIMS campuses have been opened.
AIIMS Raipur, is making strides in advanced healthcare by using cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and mobile clinical support systems to aid doctors in remote regions and address public health concerns.
These advancements, she stated, would be vital in achieving India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Governor Ramen Deka extended his best wishes to the graduates, recognizing AIIMS Raipur’s contributions to healthcare in Chhattisgarh and across India.
He applauded the institute’s achievements, including its 38th position in national rankings, and commended the role it played in providing high-quality care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai welcomed President Murmu on behalf of Chhattisgarh’s citizens and expressed pride in the accomplishments of local medical and engineering institutions.
He emphasized the state’s ongoing efforts to expand healthcare services, noting large-scale recruitment of medical staff and investments in modern hospital infrastructure.
Highlighting the decision to offer MBBS studies in Hindi, the Chief Minister said this initiative aims to make medical education more accessible for students from rural and tribal backgrounds.
The event was attended by Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, AIIMS Raipur Chairman Prof. George A. D’Souza, and AIIMS Executive Director Lt. Gen. Ashok Kumar Jindal, along with doctors and students from AIIMS Raipur.
