Pregnant woman’s family member forced to clean delivery ward
Balrampur | Correspondent: In Wardrafnagar Civil Hospital of Balrampur district, a family member of a pregnant woman was reportedly forced to clean the delivery ward. According to reports, the nurse assigned to the ward became upset due to excessive bleeding during the delivery and, citing cleanliness concerns, instructed the woman’s family member to clean the bed and floor.
Shanti, a resident of village Gaina, had arrived at the civil hospital for delivery.
Her condition became critical during childbirth due to excessive bleeding.
Nurses Anita Singh and Anita Mins, who were assigned to the ward, became upset over the cleanliness and allegedly forced the family member to clean the floor.
Basanti Singh, who accompanied Shanti, said there was no one available to clean the stains, so she was made to clean both the floor and the bed.
Despite the critical situation, the hospital staff showed an insensitive behavior and shifted the responsibility of cleaning onto the family members rather than arranging for someone to handle the task.
Following the incident, the family members of the woman filed a complaint with the authorities, demanding action against the nurse and the hospital management.
BMO of Wadrafnagar Shashank Gupta confirmed that the delivery took place on November 5 and stated that the family had informed officials about the incident.
An investigation will be conducted, with statements from the family and the nurses to be taken.
Action will be taken against anyone found guilty during the investigation.
Regarding the lack of cleanliness in the hospital, the official mentioned that only one staff member is assigned to the delivery ward, and it is their responsibility to clean the medical waste.
