PM Modi vs. AAP: Delhi Polls Heat Up

New Delhi | Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his campaign for the Delhi elections with sharp criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Speaking at a public gathering on Friday, he accused the AAP-led administration of neglecting critical sectors like education and healthcare.

Taking aim at AAP’s national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Modi remarked, “The country knows that Modi never built a house for himself.

Over the past decade, I have worked to fulfill the dream of over four crore poor citizens to own a home.” He added, “I could have built a Sheesh Mahal for myself, but my dream has always been to ensure permanent homes for my countrymen.”

Modi criticized the Delhi government for allegedly blocking the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides free healthcare.

He said, “I want the people of Delhi to benefit from the Ayushman Yojana, especially the elderly above 70 years of age. However, the state government’s arrogance and selfishness have deprived them of this essential service.”

Addressing the state of education, he accused the AAP government of failing to utilize funds provided under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

“Despite receiving funds from the central government, they could not even spend half of it on improving school education,” he stated.

Modi also alleged widespread corruption in the Delhi administration, citing issues in liquor contracts, education, healthcare, pollution control, and recruitment processes.

“AAP, which once spoke of Delhi’s development, has instead brought disaster to the city through scams,” he said.

The Prime Minister further criticized the state government’s neglect of the Yamuna River, stating, “The people of Delhi are forced to live amidst dirty water due to the state’s failure to clean the Yamuna.”

He highlighted that the central government has taken charge of key infrastructure projects, including roads, metro systems, hospitals, and college campuses, to address the gaps left by the state administration.

Atishi Responds to PM Modi’s Allegations

In response to Modi’s remarks, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi countered the allegations, emphasizing the achievements of the AAP government.

She said, “On one side, we have AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, who have worked tirelessly to improve education, healthcare, electricity, and water facilities.

On the other side, the BJP lacks any concrete agenda for the elections.”

Atishi questioned the BJP’s contribution to Delhi during its decade-long tenure at the Centre.

“The BJP has a budget of lakhs of crores.

Can they name even one significant project they have undertaken for the people of Delhi?” she asked.
